Mayor Appoints New Fire Chief

Today Mayor Sullivan announced the most recent appointee to his administration. Chris Bushue will advance to the position as Fire Chief for the Anchorage Fire Department, effective April 23rd.
“This is an extremely essential and vital part of my administration and Mr. Bushue’s proven experience and leadership gives me great confidence.” Sullivan said.
Chris Bushue was born 1959, moved to Anchorage in 1960 and grew up in the Spenard area. He graduated Dimond High School in 1978. Chris obtained a paramedic license from Central Washington University in 1980 and the State of Alaska in 1981. On February 11 of that same year Chris joined the Anchorage Fire Department as a paramedic intern and was later promoted to Paramedic Two in 1984. In 1991 he was promoted to Paramedic Supervisor and became an EMS Battalion Chief in 2002. In 2007 he became a Fire Battalion Chief then in September 2010 became the Chief of Operations.
Mayor Sullivan would also like to thank outgoing Chief Hall for his 20+ years of service. The former chief will become the Battalion Chief effective April 23rd.
