All new electrical work requires a permit and may be done by either the home owner or an electrical contractor licensed by the Municipality of Anchorage.

AEGCP Form NEC 590.6 B3 (below) must be posted at all locations where 220 volt temporary use receptacles are not GFCI protected. The AEGCP policy applies only to 220 volt non GFCI protected receptacles and cord sets.

All of the Anchorage-area electrical power companies have had requirements for ground rods in their service standards.

Creative kitchen designs are ​requiring installers to use ingenuity in complying with the National Electrical Code req​uirements for counter top receptacles.

All electrical wiring, excepting most types of low voltage, requires inspections and therefore a permit.

Approved Storage Cabinets may be used where it is desired to keep more than 10 gallons of flammable or more than 60 gallons of combustible liquids inside of buildings.

As per Municipal Ordinance, Title 23.45.503, Fire Lanes required by the fire code official shall be provided with Municipality approved "NO PARKING – FIRE LANE" signs as described on Page 2.

The 2018 International Mechanical Code (Section 303.4), the 2018 International Fuel Gas Code (Section 303.4), and the 2018 Uniform Plumbing Code (Section 507.13.1) all require that equipment/water heaters be protected from damage.​

The following handout applies to natural and fan assist combustion appliances. It does not apply to closed combustion, direct vent appliances.​

Traps for island sinks and similar equipment shall be roughed in above the floor and may be vented by extending the vent as high as possible, but not less than drain board height.​

There have been questions regarding whether or not overflow drains were required in the Anchorage area. Overflow drains or scuppers have always been required in the Anchorage inspection area.​

The purpose of this is to clarify what type of earthquake bracing is required for the installation of water heaters in the Municipality of Anchorage.​
