How Can We Help You?

Emergency Management

Terrorism

The Municipality is not immune to acts of terrorism. A significant attack is considered unlikely, but the consequences of a major incident could be catastrophic

Individual citizens and families can help prevent terrorist attacks. FEMA recommends the following guidelines to help protect yourself, your family and your community. These guidelines are similar to steps taken to prepare for all disasters:

  • Be aware of your surroundings;
  • Be aware of unusual behavior;
  • Report suspicious activity and unattended packages;
  • Move or leave if you feel uncomfortable or if something does not seem right;
  • Take precautions when traveling. Do not accept packages from strangers. Do not leave luggage unattended;
  • Learn where emergency exits are located in buildings you frequent. Plan how to get out in the event of an emergency;
  • Be prepared to do without services you normally depend on electricity, telephone, natural gas, ATMs and internet transactions;
  • Be aware of federal threat levels.
