Community Noise
Anchorage's Municipal Noise Ordinance (AMC15.70) limits allowable noise based on location and time of day.
A "noise permit" allows a temporary increase in allowable noise levels. Only certain events are eligible for a noise permit.
These events include:
- Construction
- Explosives
- Public or special events
- Snow removal
- Motor vehicle racing events
Those wishing to apply for a noise permit should apply at least 20 days before the event. Any individual may contact EHS to contest a noise permit application and request a hearing. The application may be submitted in person at 825 L Street, 3rd floor, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, between 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (we are closed for lunch between 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm) and Thursday from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm. Payment is required at the time of submittal.
