Anchorage Parks and Recreation

Russian Jack Spring Park Greens & Tees

Project Information:

Russian Jack Springs Park Golf Course project is NOW COMPLETE. We officially opened on Monday 7/7/14 at 1 pm. The Parks and Recreation Department has replaced the outdated golf course tee boxes and greens with new artificial turf.

This project was funded in part by an Anchorage Park Foundation Matching Challenge Grant awarded to The First Tee of Alaska. As part of the grant, The First Tee of Alaska was responsible for the replacement of the tee boxes.  Contributions toward the matching grant include “in-kind” labor and equipment donations from several generous community members including Alaska Communications, Alaska Playground Specialist and Neeser Construction, Inc. The turf utilized for the new tee boxes is reclaimed artificial turf from a local indoor sports complex.

The course greens were completely replaced with new artificial turf manufactured and installed by FieldTurf Northwest Inc. The construction entailed utilizing the existing course footprint, while professionally reshaping the greens for improved drainage on the greens. New flags, hole cups, etc. are all part of this exciting makeover and these additional features will be installed throughout the summer.
