Assembly to Review Snow Removal Response at Special EUOC Meeting

12/4/2023

On Wednesday, December 6, the Assembly Enterprise & Utilities Oversight Committee will host a special meeting at City Hall from 12:40-2:10 pm to review the Municipality's snow removal response earlier this month.

“Last month's record-breaking snowfall pushed our snow removal plan past its limit and we share the public's concerns for public safety and economic impact," said Member Zac Johnson, Co-Chair of the Assembly Enterprise & Utilities Oversight Committee. “Member Zaletel and I have invited the Administration to brief the Assembly on the Municipality's response while the experience is fresh."

“As the year closes, snow removal is top-of-mind across the Assembly's workplan," said Member Zaletel, Co-Chair of the Assembly Enterprise & Utilities Oversight Committee and Vice Chair of the Assembly. “The 2024 Municipal Budget includes an additional $1,250,000 for snow removal, so we need to understand how those resources will be used. Secondly, the 2024 Legislative Session is around the corner, and the Anchorage Delegation is listening. With more snow yet to come this winter, there's no time to waste."
