MOA Emergency Operations Center is raising the activation level to a 

LEVEL 2 Status: Response Incident Monitoring 

The Emergency Operations Center is raising the activation level this afternoon to Level 2 Response Incident Monitoring. 

This means that "​as situation or event has developed that requires increased public information and has the potential for agencies to take coordinated action. The EOC may be activated by OEM staff during regular business hours, or additional hours as needed. Conditions are being monitored with information sharing networks activated."

MOA Emergency Operations Center​ is reducing activation level to a 

LEVEL 1 Status: normal operations

The Emergency Operations Center is reducing the activation level this morning to Level 1 Normal Operations. 

This means that our municipal emergency management team and other key municipal agencies are continuing to work on the effects from the storm within regular resources, policies, and procedures. Rest assured that this reduction in activation level does not mean a reduction in municipal services or public safety. As part of your public safety team, emergency management team remain focused, vigilant, and ready to coordinate response. This will be our final emergency status update for this hazardous weather event.​

1/14/25, 10:30am update:

• The Anchorage Emergency Operations Center remains activated at a heightened level 2 this morning, which includes increased monitoring as well as response related activities by emergency management staff and other municipal employees and leadership
• Numbers of CEA and MEA customers without power continue to decrease, although we know there are still some waiting to be brought back online. For the latest outage numbers, and outage phone hotlines, please visit CHUGACH ELECTRIC and MATANUSKA ELECTRIC sites. 
• The weather forecast for the MOA looks pretty good for the next few days, with a couple chances of some light snow, and slightly colder overnight temps. For the latest forecast please see the NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE page. ​
• Solid Waste Services is offering ​free wood lot drop offs to Anchorage residents, at their Regional Landfill and Central Transfer sites, through the end of January. Please visit SOLID WASTE SERVICES​ page for all the details and instructions.​
• Parks & Rec are promoting their Hazard Tree reporting app, for people to report in downed and dangerous trees. Their crews are getting out and helping remove those to keep our parks and trails safe for use. The app can be found at: https://bit.ly/ANCHazardTree​.
• Parks & Rec have both Fairview and Spenard Rec Centers open for regular business today, and are waiving adult entrance fees.
  
• The warming center at 545 E. 4th Ave will be opening early again today at 4pm instead of 8pm. People can call for availability information at (907) 727-6776.

• ​All branches of Anchorage Public Libraries are open normal hours today, and they have computers, wifi, and device charging capabilities (with your own chargers) for those still without power. More info HERE​. ​

1/13/25, 7:00pm update:​

Municipal Manager Becky Windt Pearson announces services available for those impacted by the hurricane-force winds on January 12, 2025

• The Municipality of Anchorage, supported by our partners at Red Cross and Salvation Army, will open a Temporary Reception Center to assist those still without power from Sunday's extreme weather event. This resource will be available tonight at 8pm at Spenard Recreation Center, at 2020 West 48th Avenue.
• Hot drinks and small snacks will be available. Visitors are encouraged to bring phone chargers, other convivence items and necessary hygiene items. The bathrooms will be available as well as tables and chairs and places for families to relax together. Pets will not be allowed inside the Temporary Reception Center.
• Additionally, the adult entrance fees will be waived at Fairview Recreation Center and Spenard Recreation Center during normal business hours tomorrow from 10am-8pm. The facilities offer convenience services such as the ability to charge your phone, a place to warm up, and an area for kids to play indoors.
• The warming center located at 545 E. 4th Avenue will have extended hours on Monday, January 13 and Tuesday, January 14. It will open both days at 4pm.
• Solid Waste Services will support clean-up efforts by providing free disposal services for wood items such as: brush and branches, cut trees less than 6 ft long, lumber and wood fence post, clean tree stumps. This material will be sent through a shredder, and materials cannot have metal and/or concrete.
• These services will be available January 14 through January 31 at the Anchorage Regional Landfill Wood Lot at 15500 E. Hillside Drive, Eagle Rive, from 7:30am-5pm and Central Transfer Station Central Wood Lot, 1208 E. 56th Avenue from 10am-4:30pm, look for the “Central Wood Lot" signs.  ​
• ​Municipal Manager Windt Pearson encourages residents to use the Hazard Tree App to report downed trees on municipal land. Parks & Recreation responds to these reports and removes the trees on municipal land.​

1/13/25, 10:00am update:

• ​One weather alert remains in effect this morning, there is an active Flood Watch for the Anchorage bowl and surrounding communities. This means for low lying areas and areas previously known to be flood hazards might experience low levels of flooding until 12noon today. All other weather alerts have been cancelled at this point.
  
• Chugach Electric outages are right around 5,500 customers still without power. Outage map HERE. To report an outage to CEA, please call (907) 762-7888.
  
• Matanuska Electric outages are right around 1,000 customers still without power within the Muni. Outage map HERE​. To report an outage to MEA, please call (907) 696-7697.
  
• Both power companies have many crews out fixing their respective systems, and are working hard to bring power back to all customers.
  
• Anchorage School District has closed all schools for today. ASD website HERE.

​1/12/25, 3:00pm update:

• ​​Parks and Rec  working with DOT to secure the remaining portion of the Rabbit Creek pedestrian bridge and to limit access. 
• Project Management and Engineering Dept. engaged to determine any possible Muni role in repair and replacement. 
• Anchorage School District has re-routed bus service for families impacted by the pedestrian bridge outage.  Notice of changes to come to impacted families later this afternoon by ASD.
• Parks and Rec engaged as needed to address downed trees.
• AFD is experiencing a heightened number of structural assessment calls and response times may be delayed.  Notice was conveyed publicly via Rave Alert and Warning system this afternoon.
• APD and AKDOT monitoring minor rockfall on the Seward highway. 
• Muni Street Maintenance is monitoring any roadway issues.  Some minor local flooding issues.
• No notable structure damage to MoA facilities identified thus far.
• Anchorage Health Dept. and Mayor LaFrance's homelessness and health teams working to provide early access to warming shelter today and potentially tomorrow for our unsheltered population.
• Utilities are engaged in response as well, and crews are working to restore power to all affected customers as soon as possible. Outages are decreasing currently.
• The public should continue to use 311 for non-emergency information or support requests.
