The mission of the Municipality of Anchorage WIC program is to nourish, educate, support, and empower families in the Anchorage Municipality by promoting healthy communities. We do so by providing breastfeeding education, delivering quality nutrition counseling, offering health and community resource referrals, and supplementing with nutritious foods.

​About the WIC Program​​​​​​​​​​​

WIC, the Women, Infants, and Children program, is a nutrition program that helps pregnant women, new mothers and young children eat well, learn about good nutrition and stay healthy.

WIC's goal is to help keep pregnant and breastfeeding women, new moms, and kids under age five healthy.  To do this, we provide:

  • ​Nut​rition information specific to you
  • Electronic benefits to buy free, healthy food​
  • Tips for eating well to improve health
  • Breastfeeding education and peer support
  • Referrals for medical and dental care, health insurance, childcare, housing, fuel assistance and other services that can help the entire family​
