Administrative Hearing Office (AHO)
The Administrative Hearing Officer (AHO) holds hearings on appeals of municipal agency actions, as authorized by the Anchorage Municipal Code. Examples of the types of appeals handled by the AHO include:
- Citations by Land Use Enforcement under Title 15 and Title 21;
- Classifications, licensing determinations, and citations by Animal Care & Control under Title 17;
- Vehicle Seizures by the Anchorage Police Department under Chapter 9.28;
- Fees for excessive police responses under Chapter 8.80
- Licensing determinations and citations by the Health Department under Title 16;
- Licensing determinations by the Municipal Clerk under Title 10;
- Specific Tax determinations (rental vehicle, tobacco product, room, etc.) by the Treasury Department under Title 12;
- Citations for which a fine is specified in AMC 14.60.030
- Matters for which an adjudication is authorized by the Assembly.
If you would like to request a hearing, you must fill out a Request for Hearing Form and submit it to the AHO. Request for Hearing forms are available on this webpage or at 632 W 6th Avenue, Suite 740.
