​Garden plot renewal and lottery opens

• Garden plot renewal opens on January 1 and closes on February 28.  
  
• Lottery for new gardeners opens on January 1. 
  
• Lottery for new gardeners closes on February 28.
  
• Lottery winners are informed by mid-March and have six days to claim and pay for the plot before it is passed on to another lottery applicant.
  

Access to gardens

• Beginning in April, garden locks combinations are changed and gardeners may begin working on their plots. Access timeline is dependent on weather/snow conditions. ​
  

Water turned on​

• In mid-May, water is turned on to all gardens (weather permitting). ​
  

Planting

• In mid-June​, gardeners should have half of their plot planted. 
  
• By the third week of June​, gardeners should have their full p​lot planted. 
  

Water turned off

• By mid-September, the water is turned off to all gardens. ​
  

End of season

• Gardeners are responsible for cleaning their plots by the end of October. 
• ​If a plot is not closed down for the season by this time, ​staff will notify the gardener that they have five days to complete their clean-up. If clean-up isn’t completed, the gardener won't be able to participate in the community gardens the following season. ​​​
