Overview
In partnership with the State of Alaska Department of Transportation, Parks and Recreation has developed a phased solution to establish an east-west trail in the Far North Bicentennial Park south of Tudor. Phase One is completed, connecting Klutina Dr to Regal Mountain Dr. Phase Two will connect Regal Mountain Dr to the trail at Campbell Airstrip Rd.
Timeline
In past years, the community expressed safety concerns over the lack of a safe, accessible, east-west pedestrian and bicycle route near the Tudor Road and Muldoon Road curve just east of Campbell Airstrip Road. This project seeks to provide a safe non-motorized connection from east anchorage into Far North Bicentennial Park.
The Parks and Recreation Department worked to engage the numerous stakeholders and communities impacted by the proposed scope of work. Most of these coordination efforts are outlined in chronological order below.
