More information is needed. Is this city wide or just in certain areas? Who determines what is high wind or otherwise? The current 20 ft' right of way seems more than sufficient given current technology. I worry that Chugach Electric is pushing us down a slippery slope. I hope that the community councils are able to address the issue before the city council decides to act.

Please reconsider this amendment, this is a blatant attempt to circumvent any responsibility on the part of the utility from requesting or receiving a right of way approval on a private person's property. The electric utility already has a 20' wide right on everyone's property, this amendment would allow the utility another 20', for a total of 40' to place buried lines without notice or working with the property owner. As a result of this amendment, Chugach would be able to cut down the only windbreak grove of trees on our property even though they already cut a 20' swath on either side of the line above-ground. Isn't 20' good enough for you? Or is it the fact that not enough homeowner's signed the utility's request for an additional 20' right-of-way on the Hillside that they have to claim it is a fire-hazard now after 30-odd years? Please, please, reconsider this insidious amendment.

Where exactly are the targeted areas? Please don't take any action until the Community Councils get a chance to look and comment or they are left out of the process. Thank you.
