The "Historic" Iditarod Trail is a concept conceived in Girdwood by federal employees designed to be imposed upon private property owners in Portage without the private property owners comments in an ecologically damaged (1964 earthquake, ARRC impoundments built in 1923 in a hurry in the winter combined with unregulated speed in a wetland with unregulated weights thus contributing to lake building, to conscript the land access of private property owners. The federal government (US Forest Service) is not the community council of Portage Valley and it is improper to superimpose the recreation-limited views of Girdwood upon Portage Valley; the residents of which community may have more commercially driven plans for their properties and should be allowed to discern the intrusions into the damaged community without artificial federal imposed dictates regardless of alleged "recreation" intent. Thank you for this opportunity to comment.
