(1.)I concur with comments from the Rabbit Creek Community Council pertaining to walking paths on both sides of the road and that a bicycle path, if built, should be on the west side of the road. (2.) I disagree with Lori Schanche's assertion that because of the school there will be daily use of bicycles and pedestrians traveling to school grounds. Bear Valley Elementary School annually has snow on the ground by the first or second week of October through the second or third week in May. Bike riding is infrequent, mainly by adults during the summer months when school is out for break. Also, the elementary school is already significantly over-capacity and will not be available for new students along the proposed Mountain Air Extension route to potential subdivisions from the south. (3.) As the project occurs within the coastal zone boundaries and state capital funds are involved, will a coastal zone project questionaire be submitted to the State of Alaska? (4.) How will the project incorporate recommendations and information presented in the municipality's December 2008 plan: "Pilot Watershed Drainage Plan, Little Rabbit Creek and Little Survival Creek Watersheds"? (5.) What happens if proposed subdivisions directly south of this road extension project are not built anytime soon? Another expensive road & bridge to nowhere? (6.) What is the projected cost estimate and source of funds to upgrade the intersection of Mountain Air Drive with Rabbit Creek Road? (7.) When will the project proponents submit new preliminary subdivision plats to the platting board to show how the existing subdivision(s) along the proposed route will be revised? (8.) Who pays for maintenance after this project is contructed?
