The Alyeska Resort Master Plan is offering to the community of Girdwood everything that Girdwood has been asking for. They are offering space for community needs like child care and a community center. They are addressing consolidating parking under their mixed residential commercial employee housing, which as rental housing in an already developed area around the resort has received full approval from the community of Girdwood. The trails committee has concerns about phase 4 called Glacier Creek. However, the development was incredibly well planned to protect Nordic trails and wetlands and minimize impact, to reduce costs of each structure, and to serve the workforce by limiting Short Term Rentals to not be allowed by Pomeroy's HOA in the Glacier Creek tiny home community. They did traffic studies and have offered solutions. They have addressed every community concern and have reached out to multiple agencies and individuals and have done their due diligence to meet community needs and desires. As a renter in Girdwood that has studied the Alyeska Resort Master Plan and the Girdwood Comprehensive Plan, I believe this plan will help Girdwood in many ways. I am concerned that current home owners in Girdwood may try to hinder this plan due to fears that their property values may decrease or that they will someday lose their right to STRs. I believe this is a very good proposal for our ski town and am looking forward to the positive ways this will improve the quality of life for those who work and live here.
