Hybrid and In-Person Meeting
The Anchorage Historic Preservation Commission postponed the public hearing on the nomination of the Alaska Native Heritage Center to the Anchorage Local Landmark Register (Anchorage LLO) from Thursday, July 20, 2023, to Thursday, August 24, 2023, 5:30-7:00 p.m. This meeting with be a hybrid Microsoft Teams and in-person meeting in the Training Room of the Planning and Development Center, 4700 Elmore Road, Anchorage.

The Anchorage LLO was adopted in 2021 by the Anchorage Assembly (A.O. 2021-032, As Amended):
C. Anchorage Historic Preservation Commission Review:
- The Historic Preservation Officer shall refer a completed application for landmark designation to the Historic Preservation Commission. The Historic Preservation Officer will place the nomination on the Historic Preservation Commission's agenda for discussion and recommendation within 90 days after the Historic Preservation Officer deems the nomination packet complete and the nomination fee is paid.
The Historic Preservation Officer will notify owners and/or proponents of the nominated resource of the Historic Preservation Commission meeting by mail at least thirty (30) days prior to the Historic Preservation Commission meeting at which a nomination is set for consideration.
- The Historic Preservation Officer shall send notices of the Historic Preservation Commission meeting to any affected and adjacent community councils.
- The Historic Preservation Commission shall make a determination of eligibility based on whether the resource meets all the following:
a. The resource is identified as one or more of landmark types as defined in Anchorage Municipal Code
(AMC) 4.60.002;
b. The resource meets the requirements of AMC 4.60.004; and
c. The resource retains sufficient integrity to convey that significance.
D. Findings and Recommendations of Commission: The Historic Preservation Commission shall act officially on landmark designation within two regular meetings. The Historic Preservation Commission may approve, reject, or request additional information.
