Over the past two years, the Municipality of Anchorage distributed
$260 million in federal relief funds through the CARES Act and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to help Anchorage businesses, organizations and individuals respond to and recover from the pandemic.
With funds appropriated by the
Anchorage Assembly, the

CARES 2020 | Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act of 2020 and the Coronavirus Response and Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 provided fast and direct economic assistance for American workers, families, small businesses, and industries.
In 2020, the Municipality of Anchorage received $156 million in federal funds to provide support to individuals and families in need as the community navigated the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Anchorage Assembly has allocated these funds to relief, response and support efforts in the community. They have been divided into the following priority areas:

Economic Stimulus: these programs offer support for residents and businesses.

Family Support: these programs offer support for families, children, caregivers, and dependents.

Housing & Homelessness: these programs offer support for renters, landlords, home and property owners, and individuals experiencing homelessness.

Public Health & Safety: these programs offer support for resident health, wellness, and safety.

Community Investments: these programs offer support for long standing community infrastructure and programs that will continue to improve quality of life for Anchorage municipal residents.

ARPA 2021 | American Rescue Plan Act
In two annual payments scheduled in 2021 and 2022, the Municipality of Anchorage was granted a total of
$103,317,366 from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021, a $1.9 trillion relief bill established to provide support to State, local and Tribal governments responding to the impact of COVID-19 on communities, residents and businesses.
In 2021, the Anchorage Assembly awarded
$51,658,683 to local projects and programs focused on economic development, community investment, family support, housing and homelessness, and municipal support.
ARPA 2022 | American Rescue Plan Act
In 2022, the Anchorage Assembly considered project proposals for the second installation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding. With more than $51 million in ARPA funds already injected into the local economy, the second round presented the rare opportunity to fund community projects towards a vision for a stronger, more vibrant Anchorage.
In August 2022, the Anchorage Assembly awarded
$51,658,683 to local businesses, non-profits and community organizations focusing on economic resilience, increasing our competitiveness as a destination city, and making all parts of our city vibrant and welcoming.
