ANCHORAGE, AK – Today, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz announced Erin Baca as Director of the 49th State Angel Fund (49SAF). 49SAF is a municipal economic development tool initially funded by the U.S. Department of Treasury that drives long-term growth by investing in local companies. Baca replaces Joe Morrison who joined the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance.
Baca assumes leadership over 49SAF after two years as a program manager for the fund, where she launched the Alaska Angel Conference, the Building Equity Co-investment fund, TEN BUCK LUNCH, and Co-chaired the 2019 and 2020 Statewide Alaska Startup Week committees.
“Erin has already made the 49SAF more connected and more effective in the community," said Mayor Berkowitz. “As Director she will continue to unleash the talents of Anchorage's vibrant and diverse entrepreneur community, which is particularly critical as we look to stabilize and rebuild our economy through and after the pandemic."
The 49SAF benefits from an Advisory Committee of Anchorage leaders who are entrepreneurs, investors, business professionals and economic developers. To date, 49SAF has spurred over $50 million in economic activity in Anchorage.
