Limited Walk-Thru Services begins May 17
Over the last year, permit services have largely been done electronically or by document drop offs and picks ups. To better accommodate permit issues that applicants believe need to be handled more expeditiously, we will now be offering residential and limited commercial walk-thru services Monday-Wednesday-Friday, 2-4 pm. Limiting the hours for walk-thru services will enable us to sustain the efficiencies gained in the last year of few interruptions and protect the principle of first-in first-out for addressing permit application to assure fairness. By having this period later in the day, we will be able to better address time critical Certificates of Occupancy and other urgent needs.
We continue to urge applicants to utilize E-Plans so that plans can be reviewed simultaneously by the different disciplines and TEAMS for meetings with staff to alleviate travel time, reduce the need for potential isolation, and quarantine. Also, the use of eplans results in a substantial time savings for permit techs allowing them to process permits, change orders, deferred submittals, and certificates of occupancy timelier. Paper submittals require more time/resources to process, thus taking time away from other important functions.

Office and Customer Precautions - COVID-19 UPDATE

To ensure the health, safety and well-being of customers and department staff, the Development Services Department is implementing the following changes in service until further notice.  The most recognizable of the services will be the reduction in face-to-face customer interactions between the public and DSD staff through:

Quick permit requests and Submittal Drop-offs: All walk-in and over-the-counter services are suspended.  Customers may only pick up and drop off plans and applications on the tables provided at the front doors.  All received documents and plan sets will be processed by DSD staff without further face-to-face customer interactions. Payment can be made over the phone by credit card at 343-8211 ext. 1, unless you have a credit card on file.

Quarantine of Submitted Documents and Plans:  As COVID-19 is detectable for up to 3 hours after aerosolization and is spreadable through contaminated surfaces or objects, all submitted hard copy documents or plans will be placed in quarantine overnight before being reviewed or processed.

Eplans - We strongly encourage all plans be submitted electronically thru Eplans. Electronic plan review is available by emailing your application to permitcounter@muni.org .  For more information call 343-8301 or 343-8211 ext. 1.

The following reviews must be submitted electronically:

  • Exempt reviews for one- and two-family dwellings.
  • Onsite well and septic permits and COSAs.

Your cooperation through this challenging time will help slow the spread of COVID-19 pandemic while we provide essential City services.
