Snow Storage Procedures

Snow Removal Guidelines

Each year the Airport Manager's Office staff is frequently asked, "Where should I put the snow?"

To keep the taxilanes open, please store snow in the designated areas of your tiedown space as shown below. Snow stored in front of or behind your aircraft will be removed when the taxilanes are cleared.

Typically, after a snow fall, Airport Maintenance wil plow the taxilane into a berm along the center of the taxilane. The idea is to provide access so airplane owners can drive to their aircraft (sweep off the wings). It may be a couple of days before Airport Maintenance comes back to remove the berm along the center of taxilane.

  • If you push your snow into the taxilane before Airport Maintenance plows the snow into the center berm, they wil pickup your snow and place it in the center berm.
  • If you push your snow into the taxilane after Airport Maintenance plows the snow into the center berm, they will pickup your snow when they push out the center berm.
  • If you push your snow into the taxilane after Airport Maintenance pushes out the center berm, your snow can stay at that location until the next snow fall.

The most important issue is that snow from your tiedown space should not be placed more than 10 feet from your spinner into the taxilane.

Remember, the objective of our Snow Removal Plan is to have the Airport runways open and functional as soon as possible after a new snowfall.

Municipal Code prohibits the dumping or relocating of snow onto or across taxilanes, taxiways, runways, or airport roads by any person except Municipal employees.
