Radio, Cell Phone and Television Towers
Receive-only antennas and the towers and antennas for amateur radio stations are regulated by AMC 21.45.263. Towers and antennas in a residential district that are part of a federally-licensed amateur radio station, and are not also used by a commercial operator are exempt from the location, tower type and height limitations (except the airport height zone restrictions of AMC 21.65.)
Commercial towers and antennas are regulated by AMC 21.45.265. The types of towers are defined in AMC 21.35.020.B.
Commercial operators are required to notify all property owners within 500 feet of an antenna when it is first activated, and to resolve any complaints of interference. They are also required to obtain an operating permit for each antenna. Click here for the application.
Handout #54 gives additional information on towers.
