Farmer's Market

Every summer the WIC program provides money towards produce to WIC participants to use at local farmer's markets. This program is called the “Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (FMNP)" and typically starts in July and the coupons expire October 31st.

How to get FMNP checks

Call your local WIC clinic to see if they have the FMNP coupons available yet. If so, they will communicate to you how to receive them. At the Anchorage WIC Clinic, you can pick up the coupons or we can mail them to you.

How to use your Farmer's Market checks

  1. Find a local farmer's market near where you work, live, or play. Many markets are near local grocery stores and parks.
  2. Find produce vendors at the market who accept the coupons. You can ask the info booth at the market or you can look for the signs on vendor booths to see who accepts the coupons. When in doubt, ask the farmer!
  3. Use your coupons for payment. The coupons are typically in $5 checks. The farmer's cannot provide change for your coupons. Ask the farmer for suggestions on how to use your coupons in full!
  4. Enjoy your local produce. You can find delicious recipes on the WICShopper app and at WIChealth.org.
